Thelma Phillips, the daughter of the late McKinley Mae McMillian and Bertha Archie McMillian, was born in Sumter, South Carolina on July 25, 1920.

Mrs. Phillips was raised and educated in Hartsville, South Carolina. She later met and married George Phillips; their marriage blended a family of five children. In the year 1959, the family moved to Newark, New Jersey where she lived until her retirement.

Ms. Philips relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 1995 where she became a member of the First Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memories; two daughters, Mrs. Sheila Bell and Mrs. Georgia Barnhardt; a stepson, Harmon Phillips (Ann) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren; brother-in-law, Lester E. Phillips; sister-in-law, Alice Phillips; nephew, Fred Fletcher; a host of great grandchildren, also great great grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
