Mrs. Ophelia Brooks was born on November 10, 1924 in Macon, Georgia to the late Leila Mathis. She received her education in the Bibb County Public Schools.

She lived most of her life in Jacksonville, Florida where she was married to Irving Brooks who preceded her in death.

Ophelia lived her life in service of others. She was a nurse’s aide and was a caregiver to the family of Ms. Joanna Catiette ad Ms. Alma McCabe.

Ophelia Brooks was a dedicated member of Morning Star Freewill Baptist Church where she was a member of the Mothers Board. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Ophelia Brooks departed this life on March 4, 2008. She leaves to mourn her passing, Bertha Holzendorf (Clarence), Inez Brown, Floyd Banks, Irving Brooks, Jr., Cindy Brooks, Curtis Williams (Margaret), Alicia Henry (Darrell), Edward Williams; eight grandchildren, and a host of other family members and devoted friends.
