Mother
Lula Mae Walker-Mercer, 97, a long time resident of Jacksonville passed away,
April 23, 2009, in a local Hospital.
She was a
member of Little Rock Baptist Church, 1418 Van Buren St., Rev. Randy Sewell,
Pastor. For 61 years she served in various capacities including, Mother of the
Church and also with the Grandmother's Program of Richard L. Brown Elementary
School. She was a devoted wife and friend for 77 years to the late Rev. Johnnie
B. Mercer.
She leaves
to carry the torch of her true love, son, John B. Mercer (Janie), daughters,
Wylene Jenkins, Patricia Graham (Tommy); grandchildren, John Dunbar (Lori),
David Dunbar (Jeanette), Tommy Graham, Kelli Farns, Tongela Mercer, Tracy Fulton
(Rick), Corey Dix (Synthia); 19 great grands; 7 great-great grands,
sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and many sorrowing friends.
