Lorian
Solomon Williams passed away December 31, 2008.
Lorian was educated in the
Duval County Public Schools and graduated from William M. Raines Class of 1980.
She then went to pursue higher education obtaining a BS in Accounting from
Florida State University and an MBA with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and
Management Information Systems from the University of South Florida. Lorian was
also a National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Certified
Teacher. After college Lorian took a job working with Florida Power and Light.
Her tenure there was quite brief as she knew that her purpose was not being
fulfilled. So she prayed and was directed to "launch out into the deep." This
was the beginning of Chaslo Merchandise and Promotions, Inc.
Lorian established herself as a
key business leader, with her long-term involvement with such community
organizations as: a mayoral appointment to the St. Petersburg Housing Authority
Board of Commissioners; Advisory Board, St. Petersburg Junior College, Corporate
Training Services; National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners (NCBMP);
Marketing Opportunities in Business and Entertainment (MOBE); National Black
Business Council; Printing Association International (PPAI); Printing Industries
of America; Promotional Products Association of Florida (PPAF); Board of
Directors, Leadership St. Petersburg Alumni Association (LSPAA); The St.
Petersburg Community Alliance; Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce; Emerging
Business Council, Chairman; First Coast African American Chamber of Commerce;
Golden Life Member, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; University of South Florida
Alumni Association and Florida State University Alumni Association to name a
few. Chaslo Merchandise and Promotions, Inc. holds the distinction of having
been named an authorized vendor and one of only two minority licensees of the
Tampa Bay Super Bowl XXXV Task Force and an authorized vendor of the Tampa Bay
Super Bowl XLIII Host Committee.
As a young child Lorian
accepted Christ in her life and was a faithful member of Emanuel Missionary
Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. S. L. Badger. Upon
relocating she united with Without Walls International Church in Tampa, Florida
under the leadership of Bishop Randy White, Pastor.
She leaves to cherish her
memories: a faithful, loving son, Chas D. Williams; mother, Jeanett Solomon;
siblings, Jackie Solomon Ward (Lawrence), Marjorie Solomon, Tommye Thomas Brown,
Cary Solomon (Gwen), Robert Solomon, Sr. (Cynthia), George Solomon, Sr.
(Sharon); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, godparents,
godchildren, godsisters, other relatives and many sorrowing friends including
the father of her son, Charlie Williams, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the
William M. Raines Class of 1980.
