A longtime resident of Suwanee County, Harding Sheffield was born April 9, 1922 in Bakersville, Florida to the late warren and Elizabeth Sheffield He was one of eleven children in which all others preceded him in death.
As a young man, he served in the united states Navy and Word War II.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Rosa Lee Patterson on January 19, 1943 and was a very loving and devoted husband for 63 years. From this union three children were born.
He was a faithful member and Deacon of St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church. He was a very hard working man who farmed for many years and was employed with Suwanee county School Board as a bus driver and Farmers Coop for over 15 years until his retirement.
Harding Sheffield passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 in Jacksonville, Florida, in the loving care of his daughter, Elizabeth and family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife, Rosa Lee Sheffield; one loving and devoted daughter, Elizabeth Pearson (Willie); two loving and devoted sons, Warren Sheffield (Louise), Leroy Sheffield (the late Gloria Jean); nine grandchildren, Pernella Richardson (Kenneth), Tania Crumbley (Hughston), Warren Edward Sheffield, Samantha Rountree, Terry Sheffield, Gerald Sheffield, Jamela Taylor (Jimmie); one sister-in-law, Willie Mae Drummond; eight nieces, three nephews and a host of great grandchildren, cousins and many friends.
