Mr.
David Palmer Sr., 83, a resident of 3614 Ardisia Rd. North, passed away March
17, 2008. He was born July 6, 1924 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late
John and Carrie Palmer. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida in the 1920's and
attended the local public schools.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years and worked for JEA for 27 years. He was well-known for Palmer's Barbershop as a barber for over 30 years on Avenue B. Mr. Palmer was a life time member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, 841 Franklin Street, Rev. Granville Reed, III, Pastor, he also served in Choir # 2.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Cross Palmer, sons, David Jr., "Gilbert" and Johnathon Palmer; brother, Tommy Palmer and adoptive mother, Edna Hutchins (after the passing of his mother, Carrie Palmer in 1930).
Survivors include: daughters, Carolyn Wise, Bonita Cash, Belinda Palmer and Angela Palmer; sons, Percy Palmer (aka Mohamed E. Usman, Ronald Palmer (Lenora) and Daryl Palmer (Tisha); grandchildren, Robert Cash, Jr., Steven Wise Sr. (LaMonica), Lawrence Wise, Daryl Palmer Jr., LaToya Palmer, Porscha Palmer, Twanzo Harper, Bonita Harper and Carrie Palmer; nine great grandchildren; sister, Johnnie L. Byrd; brothers, Eugene Burnett and Randolph Grayer; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
